ALLEGED FRAUD.
J -By Telegraph—Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, June 3. R. G. Paterson, who was arrested -a short time ago on a charge of fraudulently converting to his own use several sums of money belonging to the firm of Pawson and Co., sawmillers, proceeds of salas of timber, ■was brought before Mr McCarthy, S.M., yesterday. , After a lengthy hearing, extending -until this afternoon, the Magistrate held that while the partnership ac- - counts showed that Paterson had not dealt so openly with Pawson as Pawson had with Paterson, there was no grounds for a criminal charge, and the case was dismissed. Several other similar charges pending were withdrawn, and the prosecutor, Pavvsun, apologised for the action.
