United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyriirbti Received May 31, 11.55 p.m. NEW YORK, May 31.
Mr Pattun's position is so strong that he could have demanded 5 dollars per bushel for the wheat he held. He accepted 134 cents, and cleared , £400,000 sterling. The profits personally to himself and his associates amounted to £300,000. Mr Patten gave his employees a bonus of 10 ptr cent, on their salaries for a year. The New York correpondent of "The Times" reports that most of the losers are professional speculators. In the opinion of many, Mr Patten's contention that there is less wheat in the world than is generally believed n*s proved correct.
