POLICE RAID.
ALLEGED GAMBLING SCHOOL,

Detectives Ward, Gibson, Livingstone and H. P. Kennedy were successful yesterday morning in happen ing upon a "school" of alleged gamblers in Sydenham about 11 o'clock. The detectives found about a dozen men, mostly young men, engaged in what is reported to have been a game of chance with cards. They also had "two-up" kips, which, it is alleged, they were about to use. The "school" was discovered in a sort of blind street, and previous immunity from interference and possibly a mistaken idea as to the innocence of their actions led to them being caught napping, outposts that most "schools" have being non-existent. The names of the men were taken, and a prosecution will probably follow.
