PIETERMARITZBURG, May 26.
The Chamber of Commerce, by nineteen votes to twelve, defeated a resolution in favour of the proposed Union.
The Pietermaritzburg correspondent of "The Times" wH states that when tre Transvaal Parliament assembles, Mr Botha (Premier), will announce tnat the union of the other colonies will take place, whatever Natal's deci&ion.
Messrs Moor and Botha have arranged an adjustment in regard to railway rates on competitive traffic, which will come into force immediately the Act of the Union is passed. Received May 26, 11.20 p.m PRETORIA, May 26.
Mr Botha, addressing the Het Volk Congress, at Pretoria, said he regretted the attitude of a section of the people of Natal regarding the Union. No colony had received so and never before in the history of South Africa had "there been such solid signs of prosperity. ______
