PALMERSTON, N., May 11.1" At the [conference of Chambers of Commerce, at whichldelegates were present from Napier, Masterton, Caterton, Feilding, Dannevirke and Palmerston North, J;he_foll£wing resolutions were passed:—"That,the Minister of Railways ne urged to expedite"the"i-ail*service between)the EasTand West, Coasts by arranging for> passenger train to leave Napier sufficiently early in"] the morning to reach Palmerston North at, say, 12.30 o'clock, and so connect with the mail train to New Plymouth, going north, and the" main trunk expresTlgoing south; that the'morning train! leaving Woodville for Napier at 6 a.m. leave Palmerstcn North instead, and the afternoon train from Napier arriving at Woodville at 8.15 p.m. go on to Palmerston North; that the north train]now leavi"g Masterton at 6.30 a.m. start from Featherston instead,
and be timed to reach Palmerston in time to catch the New Plymouth mail, and the train leaving Masterton at 9.10 p.m. for Featherston be delayed so as to allow passengers on the 10 p.m. train to Masterton to continue their journey the same night, or in the alternative that the last mentioned a train timed to arrive earlier so as to catch the 9.10 Masterton to Featherston train; that connection be made to run to Masterton and south with the proposed early train from Palmerston to Napier and connection be . made from Mastertou at Woodville with the evening train to Palmerston Nerth.
