THE NORTHERN APPROACH.
AGAIN BEFORE THE COUNTY COUNCIL. FURTHER ACTION IN. THE MATTER. At the meeting of the Finance Committee of the Masterton County Council, yesterday morning, the Engineer advised that he had made the necessary surveys to enable Inm to report )n the scheme for improving the Northern approach to Masterton, which he hoped to submit at the next Council meeting. He asked for instructions as to whether the Council wished the scheme to include one bridge or two, Cr Welch moved, and Cr Toogood seconded, "That the Engineer be advised that the committee sees no reason for departing Irom the decision already arrived at, that there should be no attempt to confine the waters of thf Waipou* , n one channel at point> and that he be dieted to furnish alternative estimates of cost of bridges in wood and ferro-concrete (the latter approximate only). The resolution was carried. At the meeting of the Council in the afternoon, the recommendation of the committee was adopted.
