RETURNS FOR APRIL. INCREASE IN IMPORTS. Received May 10, 8.55 a.m. LONDON, May 9. The Board of Trade returns for April show that imports increased £2,099,267, exports decreased £l,746,880, and re-exports increased £1,857,772, as compared with the corresponding month last year. The improvement in imports was due partly to an advance in prices especially wheat, and partly to a larger imports of wool, cotton, and certain other articles on the eve of the Budget, in case of duties being imposed.
