METEOROLOGICAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 3. The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates' weather forecast to 3 p.m. to-morrow:—Heavy rain is probable generally, and colder weather shortly; high winds are expected southerly north of Auckland, easterly backing by south to east thence to Raglan and Napier, northerly veering to westward thence southward; barometer rising slowly in the north, but falling in the south for about 12 hours, and then probably rising steadily everywhere.
UPPER PLAIN RAINFALL. Mr J. C. Boddington reports a', follows:—The rainfall on the Upper Plain for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. on Saturday last was two points. Rain fell on 13 days in April, the maximum fall in 24 hours being 58 points on the 23rd, and the minimum one point on C' 3 3rd. The total for the month was 2.54 inches as against 3.08, 3.03, 2.99, 3.30, and 2.48 inches in 1904, 1905, 1906, 1907, and 1908. The total for the ipur months was 11.92 inches as against 11.89, 9.60, 14.64, 2.017, and 9.68 for the corresponding period in IMO4, 1905, 1906, 1907 and 1908.
Mr Groves reports as follows: The rainfall at Bush Grove during the month of April was 1.50 points. Rain fell on 9 days, the maximum fall being .58 points on the 11th. The maximum temperature for the month was 76 on the 6th, and the minimum tenmerature was 31 on the 14th. The rainfall in April, 1908, was 2.78 points. Mr W. F. Day, Brooklyn, Gladstone, reports as follows: —The rainfall for April was 84 points. The maximum fall was 20 points on the 12th, ana the minimum was 1 point on the 3rd. Rain fell on 12 days. The rainfall for 'April, 1908, was 1.71 inches. The total for the four months is 7.7ojinches, as against 7.69 for the same period last year. Our Castlepoint correspondent telephoned last night as follows: Rain fell at Tenui on four days at Castlepoint during April, the total fall for the month being 149 points. The maximum fall was 106 points on April 11th, and the minimum fall was 7 points on April 22nd.
