STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Abraham and Williams Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale held on Wednesday, 28th instant, as follows: —A good yarding of both sheep and cattle was submitted, which met with a ready sale at prices somewhat higher than those ruling of late, mainly attributable to the reported rise of 6d per head in fat 3. Competition for cattle was also good, and although several pens were passed at auction they were disposed of privately, and we have to report an almost total clearance. We quote: —Cattle: Light fat bullocks of good quality, £6 ss; fat heifers, £4; two and a-half year steers, £3 12s 6d; three-year steers, £4 7s 6d; eighteen months steers, £2 17s; young dairy heifers, £1 13s; yearling steers, £2 10s; two-year steers, £2 15s. Sheep: Breeding ewes, 8s 6d to 10s lid, according to condition; fat and forward ewes, 8s Id to.9s; heavy fat ewes, 9s 6d to lis, for a small line of exceptionally heavy weights; lambs, 5s to 7s 6d, according to quality. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having conducted a successful clearing sale on behalf of the estate of the late Mr Frank Buick, Opaki. The attendance was very large, and business at auction, although somewhat inclined to drag for the stock and especially for the horses, was animated for all the sundries and furniture, etc. The stock was in good order and well cared for, and the horses in first-class condition. Unfortunately they sold at low prices in sympathy with other centres Sundries sold particularly well, and in many instances in excess of vaflue. Prices realised w?re as under: —Sheep: Breeding ewes, 13s; 2tooth wethers, 10s 7d; woolly lambs, 9s 2d; culh, 5a 6d; rams, £1 Is. Cattle: Two-year-old steers, £2 9s; dairy heifers, £2 10s; cows, £3 to £4 ss. Horses: Draught geldings, £24 to £34; mares, £23 to £3l; hacks, £ls to £l7.
