FIRE IN WELLINGTON.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 21. Shortly after 2 o'clock, this afternoon, a fire broke out in Warnock and Adkh's large drapery establishment in Lambton Quay. v. Some.tr.irty girls, who were working upstairs, got considerably excited and frightened. They were all rescued by the Government Buildings messenger staff brigade. The building was badly damaged by fire and water efore the flames were subdued, and the stock suffered severely from the deluge of water poured in by the City Fire Brigade. The building is owned by Hamilton Gilmer and A. Maguire, who are insured in the Atlas Company for £15,500. The contents are insured in all for £7,200, distributed as follows. -Royal Exchange, £1,500; Liverpool, London, and Globe, £1,200; Norwich Union, £500; Alliance, £1,250; North British. £500; Sun, £750; Royal, £1,500; London and Lancashire, £250. The adjoining building, occupied by Reynolds 8r05.,, is owned by Mr Allan, and the stock is insured in the Norwich Office for £l5O. Both adjoining buildings suffered, and the contents suffered some damage by smoke and water.
