YOUNG MAORI PARTY.

By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 13. At a special conference of the Young Maori Party, held at Ohinemutu, attended by representatives from the East Coast, Hawke's Bay, and Auckland, a resolution was passed recognising the important work done by the Health Department among the Maoris and expressing the hope that retrenchment would not impair its efficiency. The conference approved the establishment of homes in various districts and urged the Maori people to provide land and buildings suitable for the purpose. It was resolved that the time had arrived for the compulsory registration of Maori births and deaths. It was resolved to collect £3OO to contest the claims of natives as to the ownership of the lakes.
