MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Committee was held on Thursday evening. There were present?— Messrs R. Brown (Chairman), H. J. O'Leary, A."W. Chapman, G. Townsend, H. H. Cork and C. Perry. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £46 lis 7d. The monthly report from the Headmaster showed that the attendance was as follow: —Main School, roll €l9, average attendance 558, percentage of attendance 90; Side School, roll 157, average attendance 143, percentage of attendance, 91; secondary classes, roll 90, average attendance 84, percentage of attendance 93. The School Branch of the Navy League had become strong and enthusiastic; there was a large membership of senior boys and girls. It was announced that the Borough Engineer would attend to the asphalting of the boys' playground at an early date. On the motion of Mr C! Perry, the Committee resolved to place on record an appreciation of the ser ■sees of the Secretary, Mr W. Easthope. ' The Chairman referred to the great interest the Committee had taken in the School work during the year, and hped that it would be an incentive to householders to attend the annual meeting on April 26th, and elect the beat Committee possible. Mr Chapman proposed a earty vote of thanks to the Chairman (Mr R. Blown) for his enthusiastic services during the year, which was unanimously carried. Messrs Chapman, Cork and O'Leary were appointed a Visiting Committee. Accounts amounting to £l9 16s 9d were passed for payment.
