A PENSION SCHEME.
Received March 12, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, March 12. Influenced by Australian and Canadian suggestions, Mr R. B. Haldane, Secretary for War, has included in his Army estimates, £40,000 for the purpose of initiating partial commutation pensions for ex-soldiers to enable them to emigrate. A scheme of payments is being prepared. It is understood that the Admiralty will act similarly in regard to ex-sailors.
