"SMART SOCIETY" DIVORCES. THE STIRLING CASES. THE COURT'S DECISION. Received March 11, 8.55 a.m. LONDON, March 30. In the Couit of Sessions, Edinburgh, proceedings in the divorce suit John Alexander Stirling, laird of Kippendavie, Perthshire, v. Clara Elizabeth Stirling and Lord North land (co-respondent), and the crosssuit Clara Elizabeth Stirling v. John Alexander Stirling and Mrs Atherton (co-respondent), were brought to a cl^se. A divorce was granted Mr Stirling, but refus Q d to his wife. Lord Guthrie, in d2livering judgment, alluded to the selfish idle lives of those concerned; especially to those led by Mrs Stirling and Mrs Atherton, regarding both of whom he spoke in very severe terms. Mrs Stirling, aged '24, is an American young lady, who was formerly on the sta»e in "The Earl and the Girl." Mr Stirling was lately lieutenant in the Scots Guards. Mrs Atherton, aged 37, h a famous society beauty, the daughter of a baronet. She was divorced by Colonel Atherton, and sued Captain YardeBuller for alleged breach of promise. Lord Northland, aged 26, exGuardsman, is a son of the Earl of Ranfurly, former Governor of New Zaaland.
