MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Hospital Trustees was neld yesterday morning, present, Messrs J. B. Keith, (chairman). H. J. O'Leary, W. Fisher, C. C. Jackson, M. J. Jackson, and R. Brown. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £295 18s 9d on the general hospital account, and £165 5s for infectious diseases account.

The Hospital Diary showed that 20 patients were in the institution at last meeting, 32 had been admitted since, 28 had been discharged, five had died, leaving 19 patients under treatment at date. An ex-patient wrote through his solicitor repudiating liability for a bill of expenses for his treatment, stating that nis employer was liable. The Trustees decided to ask the paient to pay the account himself.

A committee reported on the estimates for the Hospital for thq/ensuing year, and after they had been discussed the total amount finally agreed upon for submission to the jDistrict Hospital Board - for that body to contribute was £1779 16s lOd.

The same committee recommended that the new medical staff arrangements be that Dr. Archer Hosking be re-appointed medical superintendent at a salary of £125 per annum, and that the other resident doctors be appointed honorary medical officers with the privilege of attending their own patients in the hospital as at present. This , recommendation was unanimously adopted. A recommendation from the same committee that the salary of the secretary be increased from £35 to <£5U, on account of his greatly increased duties, was also adopted. Mr Jackson expressed appreciation of the very thorough manner in which the -executive committee had prepared the estimates. It was resolved to forward ,tp Mr D. McLachlan a resolution of appreciation of his valuable assistance in connection with the laying out of the new hospital, grounds;
