DOMESTIC SERVICE.

There are undoubtedly thousands of women in the Dominion whose lives are robbed of all ease and happiness, and whose health is impaired, by the heavy burden of household cares which they are asked to sustain single handed or with incompetent assistance, and there is little likelihood of any relief for them until, both industrially and socially, the status of domestic service has been improved and the cap and apron of the assistant in the household are regarded with as much esteem as the uniform of a nurse, remarks the "Southland Times." This question is one of the most pressing at the present time, and it is to be hoped that Mr T. E. Taylor will be successful in inducing the Government to make provision for the training of domestic servants on the lines suggested by him, which are identical with the lines approved by the women of New South Wales.
