NIREAHA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
The shipments made by the local factory this season are as follows: "Athenic," 115 cases; "Paparoa," 148 cases; "Corinthic," 188 cases; "Ruapehu," 252 cases; *'Waiwera," 275 cases. The latter is the largest shipment of cheese ever sent from Eketahuna. The total amount of cheese made this season up to the 2nd' December is 106 tons, which is very c hiuch in excess of the amount made' last year. The number of suppliers is steadily increasing every year. Forty-nine are now supplying their milk to the factory. The largest quantity of milk received in one day at the factory was reached this season —viz., 3,080 gallons. Feed is abundant everywhere, and hay crops are heavy. Some difficulty is however being experienced in saving hay on account of the broken weather. In some instances the crop has been completely spoilt. The prospects are very good for a record season. The cows came into profit earlier than usual, and on the whole have milked well, and probably will keep up well as the wet spell we are having now will keep the grass fresh and green.
