A CHAMPION ATHLETE.
Received January 4, 8.88 a.m. PRETORIA, January 3. R. E. Walker, the South African athlete, ran 100 metres (a little over 109 yards) at Pretoria in 10 2-5 seconds.
Walker,, a young athlete who performed well at the Olympic Games in London, cut down the records for 100 and 120 yards a few days ago at Johannesburg. His time for the 100 metres event in London (which he won) was 10 4-ssec—two-fifths of a second above his Pretoria time.
