The proposal tc form a Mounted Rifle Corps in New Plymouth has practically fallen through on account of the discourtesy arid apparent apathy of the Defence authorities. Sixty-eight would be soldiers had handed in their names, but after waiting over a month to receive a reply and authority from the Department to enrol, decided at a meeting yesterday to give the project up.
