HOUSEBREAKING AT KURIPUNI.
THREE RESIDENCES ENTERED
ARTICLES FOUND TO BE MISSING.
The Masterton police received complaints from three residents of Kuripuni yesterday that their premises had been broken into, and their houses ransacked.
Mrs Treder, of Short street, was one, and she complained that a fair sum of money was missing, though nothing else had apparently been stolen, except that a quantity of milk was consumed by the intruders.
Mrs Day, of High street, stated that her residence had also been entered, and drawers opened, and other places searched. Some articles of jewellery were found to be gone. Mr Wright, who lives nearly opposite the Renall Solway Home, found that his bouse had also been entered, and a process of burglarious investigation engaged in. What is missing from his house is not definitely known.
It appears that the thief or thieves made raids about the middle of the afternoon, as at 2 o'clock a stranger was seen near Mrs Treder's residence. It is believed the culprits have left the town, and Constable Townsend was despatched last evening to endeavour to ascertain their whereabouts. THREE MEN ARRESTED. DWELLING AT TARATAHI BROKEN INTO. Three men, named Black, Henderson and Tolley, were arrested at Carterton at 8.80 o'clock last evening, by Constables Townsend, Ingram and Carmody, in connection with the robberies, and will appear before the Police Court, at Carterton, this morning. Amongst the jewellery alleged to have been stolen and found in the men's possession were two ladies' gold watches, two men's guldwatches, five gold brooches, a gold necklace, a gold bangle and a ladies' gold ring. It i? alleged that the men alio broke into a dwelling at Taratahi.
