MASTERTON HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.

The Masterton Hospital Trustees met yesterday morning. There were present Messrs J. B. Keith (Chairman), J. J. Mead, H. J. O'Leary, R. Brown, M. J. Jackson, C. CJackson. Leave of absence was granted to Mr J. Miller. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £244 12s. Receipts for the month totalled £563 12s and disbursements amounted to £333 2s Bd. Accounts amounting to £238 5s 5d were passeo for payment. The Hospital diary showed that 17 patients were in the institution at last meeting, 26 hsd been admitted since, 19 discharged, and one had died, leaving 23 remaining. The secretary stated that seven cases of scarlet fever were under treatment. The receipts for the fever ward were reported at £lßl 19s Bd, the Fever Hospital account having a credit balance at date of £lB4 3s 2d.

Two accounts due by oersons to the Trustees in respect of fees were referred to the Chairman and Secretary to collect.

A letter v. as received from Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., in regard to the water service to the Lansdov.r.e school —lt was decided that the matter be left to the Secretary, for the latter to point out to Mr Hogg certain inaccurate statements made in the Wellington newspapers—viz. 1 , tiiat the Trustees required from the Education Board £25 per year for the temporary service from the Hospital pipes.

The tender of a local bakery for the supply of bread to the Hospital at 4d per 21b loaf was declined, the Trustees expressing an opinion that the price of bread would probably be reduced before long. The tender of F. Staples, at lOd per gallon, was accepted for the supply of milk for the ensuing year; that of W. H. Long, for the supply of meat; that of the W.F.C.A., for supply of groceries; that of Z. M. Hoar and Sons, for furnishing funerals, and that of J. V. Gordon, for the supply of drugs. The tender for dressings was held over. Mr M. J. Jackson was appointed visiting Trustee for the month.
