OBITUARY.

MR G. LONG. The many friends of Mr George Long will learn, with deep regret, the news of his death, which occurred

at his late residence, Church Street, about a quarter past three o'clock yesterday morning. The deceased had been in a critical condition for some little time past, and small hope was held out for his recovery. The late Mr Long was born at Sligo, Ireland, exactly 52 years ago yesterday. Accompanied by his wife and two children he came out to New Zealand twenty years ago, under engagement to Messrs Kirkcaldie and Stains, of Wellington. He remained with that firm for about twelve years, and then accepted the position of manager of the drapery department of the Wairarapa Farmers' Cooperative Association (Ltd.), Masterton, which position he occupied up till the time of his death. Though the deceased did not take any part in the public affairs of the town, he was well-known and universally esteemed. With nis employers and fellow employees also he was held in the greatest respect, and in his business he was recognised as exceptionally capable and reliable. The late Mr Long leaves a wife and four sons to mourn their loss. The funeral wil' leave the residence, Church Street, at half-past two o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
