METEOROLOGICAL.
- UPPER PLAIN RAINFALL. Mr J. C. Boddington reports as follows:—The rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. on Saturday was 15 points. Rain fell on nineteen days in October. The maximum fall in 24 hours was 78 points on the 12th, and the minimum 1 point on the 16th. The total for the month was 3.63 inches, as against 9.34, 7.22, 1.11, and 3.95 in October 1904. 1905, 1906 and 1907, respectively. The total for the ten months was 29.25 inches, as against 40.25, 43.97, 35.63,. and 51.29 for corresponding period in 1904, 1905, 1906 and 1907, from which it will be seen that the rainfall for the ten months is 10.70 inches short of the average for the three years 1904, 1905 and 1906, and 13.53 inches less than for the four years if 1907—which was phenomenal—is included.
