QUEENSLAND SENSATION. ATTEMPT TO ROB A BANK. Received October 20, 12.40 a.m. BRISBANE, October 19. J. Muir, junior clerk in the Gayndah branch of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney, was iound shot dead in the back of the premises last night. A railway porter, who was passing the Bank, heard a sound of breaking glass, and summoned the police, who discovered Muir's body on the floor. There are indications that the burglars tampered with, but failed, to open the safes. The. Bank is a small wooden buildMuir is a youth of 18 years, and only recently went to Gayruiah. ADDITIONAL PARTICULARS. A SUSPECT DISAPPEARS. Received October 20, 1.5 a.m. BRISBANE, October 19. The manager was temporarily ab sent from the bank/ and Muir took his place, sleeping in the bank. Muir left his boardinghouse to go to the bank a few minutes before the shots were heard. it is believed that the burglar was hidden in the bank and shot Muir on the latter entering his bedroom. A strange hat and broken lamp were found lying near tha boiy, which bore four revolver wounds and a fifth through the hand. A man who is suspected of the crime has disappeared.
