THE INFANTS ACT.

A Bill to amend the Infants Act, introduced into the House of Representatives by the Minister for" EJucation, was read a second time yester.lay. It provides that all moneys paid by the Crown in respect of any infant maintained in a foster- j home shall constitute a debt due to the Crown by the Hospital and Chari- ' table Aid Board, or by the Charitable Aid Board, as the case may be, of the district. Such amount may be recovered by the Secretary for Education, on behalt of the Crown, or may be deducted from any subsi 3y then or thereaiter payable to the board. When the board has paid tne amount it will have a right to sue the person on whose behalf the payment was made by the Crown. Licenses for foster-homes are to continue in force until revoked.
