CHARGES OF TREACHERY AND INTRIGUE.
DEBATE ON CAPITAL SITES BILL. MUCH SQUABBLING. Received October 1, 9.45 a.m MELBOURNE October 1. In the Federal House of Representatives, the debate on the Capital Sites Bill was characterised by much squabbling and heat. Charg-es of treachery and intrigue were freely made. It is koped a division will be reached to-day. Mr Bruce Smith withdrew his amendment to the effect that Parliament, which has sat in Melbourne since May 9th, 19.01, should continue to assemble there until a period of ten years has been completed, and that then for ten years in Sydney, the final choice .of a Kite being deferred until 1921. Mr Bruce .Smith saw that there was no possibility of his amendment bq,ing carried. Received October 2, 12.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, October 1. The House carried an amendment by 26 to 1.9 that an opportunity be given to discuss other sites besides Dalgety.
