"A TERRIBLE CLAUSE."
Mr A. R. Barclay, member for Dunedin North, was seen in a new role in the House on Thursday night last —that of champion of the domestic servant. "It is a terrible clause!" he said, referring to the spction in the new Arbitration Bill exempting domestic servants in private employ (i.e., those not in boarding-houses and restaurants) from the advantages of the Bill. "It is most unfortunate for do-
mestic servants." he continued. "Why unfortunate?" asked an"unsympathetic member. ' * Why unfortunate?" remarked Mr Barclay, in bubbling wrath. "Why unfortunate? If the hon. gentleman had to do their work for their pay he would know why!"
