MASTERTON COURTHOUSE AND POLICE STATION.
SUBSTANTIAL PARLIAMENTARY VOTES. The Estimates brought down in the House on Tuesday nijjht contain several amounts for the purpose of erecting new Courthouses and police buildings in various parts of the Dominion. Under the head of Courthouses there appears the item "Masterton (on account) £3,000." This appropriation means that the substitution of the present out-of date and inadequate structure by a new and larger and more suitable one is within measurable distance. It will be a source of gratification to all who have business at the Court, and the public generally, to know that aft'. j r years of persistent agi'.ation the Government has at last taken a definite step in this important matter. The appropriations for police stations contain an amount of £2,000 for Masterton. In this fact also there is reason for satisfacti' n, and the apportioning of the substantial amount set down shows that the Justice Department are becoming alive to the necessities of the town.
