GARRY OWEN HOCKEY CLUB.
A pleasant was held last evening, in Wenvoe tea-rooms, by the Garry Owen Hockey Club. Invitations had been is'ued to other ladies' clubs in Masterton, and there was a large attendance. The Rev. Dean McKenna presided, ' and in a happy speech referred to the excellence of hockey as a recreation for ladies. Though not securing premier honours in the Wairarapa Ladies' Hockey Association's competition the Garry Owen Club had put up capital fights and had had a successful season. The members of the team had always conducted themselves admirably on and off the field. During the evening the chairman presented the medals won by players during the past season as follows: j —Best player in team, Miss JLv. O'Leary; player showing most improvement during season, Mis& Elsie Frost; player attending most practices, Miss Ruby Chapman. An excellent supper was proviled, and a varied musical programme was rendered. Mr C. Carley, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the Garry Owen Club for the invitation extended to them to attend the function.
