TRADE LEGISLATION.
AUSTRALIAN OLD AGE PENSIONS. COST OF 'COLONIAL CABLES. Received September 17, 8.30 a m. LONDON, September 17. Lord Brassey, in opening the annual meeting of the Associated Chambers of Commerce at Cardiff, Wales, advocated a full and impartial enquiry, before introducing trade legislation, in order to collate the results achieved under varying conditions of commerce at Home and abroad. Referring to Australian old-age pensions, Lord Brassey declared that no State desired to .abolish pensions. The members of the chamber resolved that the cost of colonial cables ought to be very materially reduced.
