Mrs William Astor, on retiring from the leadership of New York society, declared that the manners of most of the Senators ant,! members of the House of Representatives are too uncouth to permit of theitf reception in the best houses. She severely condemned the circus pranks adopted by a section of the "Smart Society" entertainers.
