_ * NAPIER CHAMPIONSHIP. BY TKI.KGRAI'H —PRESS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER, September <K The annual Amateur Championship meeting of the Napier Golf Club was opened to-day on the Waiohiki links. The weather was. warm, but a strong westerly wind prevailed until late in the afternoon. The first event was the Men's Handicap, one round, against hogey, and was wan by M. Fen wick (handicap 10). J. Down, J. Ciivuitt (10) and W. E. Knight, of Dan.ievirke (2) each 4 down, halved for second place. The following fifteen players qualified for the championship—Kurupo Tareha, 11. T. Hamilton, H. B Lusk, Kapi Tareha, G. T. P. Thornburn, W. B. Colbeck, A. Barraud, E. S. Pearse, V. Harmun, U. Kawhi, E. A. Dargaville, Major E, R. Gordon, W. Strang, F. T. Boyes, and J. Circuitt. The sixteenth player will be A. Borthwick, W. T. Peacock, or H. Peacock.
