UP-TO-DATE LIGHTING.
A WONDERFUL INVENTION. LIGHT BECOMES DAY. Very considerable interest has been manifested in the brilliant light given at Mr J. L. Murray's new premises next to the Club Hotel, where for tha past week, night has been in a measure turned into day. The cause of the special illumination was the installation by the Lux Light Company of New Zealand to Mr Murray's order several of their 1,000 incandescent kerosene lamps. These lamps give a remarkably fine liyht, and are admirably adapted for the display of goods as well as fur outdoor lighting. They are easily manipulated and at a cost of from a halfpenny to three-farthings per hour a first-class 1,000 candle-power light is obtained. Mr J. L. Murray, after exhaustive and cureful inquiry among users in Wellington, will place six of these powerful lamps in his new shop, and Mr P. Hamill has also determined to light hi 3 shop with this illuminant. Messrs Dupre and Gordon have each placed a lamp under their verandahs with good • j ffect, and there are others to fol low. The Lux light is being extensively used by the New Zealand Government. The department first tried- the light at Cross Creek yards, and after twelve months' use were so satisfied that in the Pelone workshops the Lux Light has been installed, where they have their own electric lighting plant. Numerous important stations are lighted with the Lux light A nu'iiber of leading Wellington business premises are being lighted by Lux light in place of the electric light, and giving the utmost satisfaction. Lux light is accepted by insurance companies all over the world without exira charge, and thd proprietors claim that it is the only light that successfully competes with electricity for shop illumination.
