HOCKEY.

WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT. (Special Reporter). WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. Wairarapa A played Wellington A at Day's Bay to-day, and was a fast and interesting game right to the finish. During the first half Wairarapa had the home team defending. The wir.g play of Miss E. Bicknell being very fine. This player was the cause of the first goal being scored for Wairarapa, after a good fine run, and centring to the forward, who rushed the ball through, the first spell ending immediately. On re-starting Wellington attacked repeatedly, but excellent play by Mifs E. Humphries, Miss Beatson and Miss ICeedwell saved the visitors. At this stage Wairarapa's condition began to tell, Wellington attacking strongly. However, Miss Keedwell, who played a brilliant game right through, saved her side. Just on the call of time Wellington set up a determined attack, when Miss Macintosh, by clever dribbling, scored just as the whistle scunded. The visitors had very hard luck three times in not scaring. All played well, especially Misses Keedwell, Beatson, and E. Humphries of the backs. Missea E. and J. Bicknell were the most prominent of the forwards. The fixtures for to-morrow are not yet known.
