TURF NOTES. (By "Zetland,") Alter the first acceptance for the INew Zealand Cup forty - nine horses ;are left in the big event. Incomplete lists published on Saturday did not contain the names of tha local horses Moloch and Rjflemaid, and there was wild consternation manifested by sportsmen over the omission. The complete list published ytsterday put matters right, and included the names of several leading performers, thus ensuring a greater amount of interest being maintained in the race. The most notable defections from the list are Cross Battery, Nobel, Bourrasque, Carissiina, Sir Frisco and Waipuna. Several of acceptors were seen out at the Marton meeting, where Ma'iaranui scored in the Crofton Handicap, and 'Frisco in the Telegraph Handicap. The disqualification of the latter for alleged inconsistent running, may prevent last year's winner, and also Apa starting in the race under notice. Mahuta, a fancied candidate, ran a poor race in the Crofton Handicap, for which he was made favourite. He, however, may not have done much work lately, which would account for his backward running. Moloch and Riflemaid will race at Levin to-morrow in the Park Stakes,, of six. furlongs, and tneir junnina: will 'uaoie sp >; c form an idea as to their condition. According to betting lists published this week the shortest odds are offered against Master Delaval, tic-em, Bobrikoff, Tangimoana, •Formative and Signor. C)iiK.en Rein was taken through to Levin yesterday by H. Fletcher. The Saracen mare will be ridden in the Cup by T. Carroll. Over Rate, winner of the two hack races at the Hunt Club meeting, has been blistered, and will not be raced again for some months. Sandix is quite sound again, but is to be spelled during the summer, and will not be raced again until next autumn. The new Stewards' stand at the Taratahi course is now in course of erection, the whole of the framewont being in position.
