TRAGIC FATE OF AN AERONAUT.
Received September 4, 8.30 a.m. NEW YORK, September 3. Jones, an aeronaut, at Waterville, Maine, in the presence of 25,000 spectators, ascended in a dirigible balloon, which caught fire and exploded. Jones dropped 500 ft and was killed.
