SCARCITY OF BOYS.
Evidence of the scarcity of boys suitable for commeroial pursuits and at the same time of guod teaching given at the Dunedin Boys' High School in commercial subjects was contained in a report submitted by the rector to the last meeting of the Board of Governors. A letter was received from the Education Department asking if the existing provisions for the teaching of commercial subjects were ad quate, and if they were considered not to be ade juate, woul.l an efficient oursa be provided. The rectnr reported that the course satisfied all demands, and that there was a constant and unsatisfied demand for High School boys in- commercial establishments of all descriptions. There was, indeed, a difficulty in keeping the boys in face of the "billets" constantly open to them.
