WU TING-FANG.

Received September 2, 12.44 a.m. PEKIN, September 1. China is considering the desirability of recalling Wu T'ing Fang, the Chinese Minister at Washington, owing to his alleged indiscreet platform and other utterances.

Wu T'ing Fang is a barrister at law, and acted as Magistrate at Hong Kong for some time. He was secretary to Li Hung Chang, and Minister to United States, Spain, and Peru. He is a very widely acknowledged humorist, and recently proclaimed his conviction that we will live 200 years by the aid of a proper system of diet. To a Boston correspondent, who applied for details, the famous Chinese humorist replied:-(1) I have given up breakfast, and take only two meals a day. (2) I abstain from all flesh food, my diet being rice, or, when I go out to dinner, whole wheat bread, fresh vegetables, nuts and fruit. (3) I avoid all coffee, cocoa, tea, liqueurp, condiments, and all lich foods. (4) 1 have given up salt also, because it is found that salt makes the bones stiff. (5) I masticate every mouthful thoroughly before swallowing. (6) I do not drink at meals, but between meals, or one hour after meals. (7) I practice deep breathing. (8) I take moderate exercise." Wu T'ing Fang's friends cynically declare that he has aged much recently.
