CYCLING.
RECORD BY MAJOR TAYLOR. Received August 27, 9 a.m. PARIS, August 20. Major Taylor, in Paris, cycled a mile, motor-paced, in 93 2-5 (?) seconds—a record. There is evidently a mistake in the figures cabled, as the mile paced record is held by E. Bouhours, of France, who on October 4th, 1903, did the distance in lmin 30 2-ssec. On September 21st, 1901, A. A. Chase (England) rode a mile in lmin 38sec, while Don Walker, of Sydney, took lmin 45sec, to do the distance on March 3rd, 1898.
