AQUATICS.
It eesmsthat the New Zealand Swimming Championships will not come to Masterton next season after all. It was hoped by the Committer of the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club that the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Association, which is entitled to the championship meeting next season, would support the holding of the meeting on the Park Lake on Anniversary Day. It is now understood that Wellington will be the locale of the gathering. In a way this is a pity, as the Lake is an ideal place to hold a championship meeting. Doubtless the lack of grandstand accommodation and other necessary appointments might be against complete success, but if these matterd are taken seriously in hand there is no reason why the Lake should not become an aquatic centre known throughout the Dominion. The Wairarapa Club intends to throw considerable energy into ita work during the coming season, and it is to be commended in its intended efforts to make the Anniversary Day Carnival a provincial fixture. The visiting swimmers greatly enjoyed their visit last Anniversary Day, and promised hearty support to the Club in future.
