MASTERTON TENNIS CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Masterton Tennis Club, was held in the Technical School Buildings yesterday afternoon. About twenty-one members were present, and the chair was occupied by the President, Rev. Dean McKenna. An apology for non-attendance was ; received from Mr A. R. Bunny. The annual balance sheet, which has already been published in these columns, showed the balance of assets over liabilities to be £B7 7s 3d. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet,, congratulated the Club on its financial position, which was most s: tisfactory, more especially considering the amount of work carried out on the new ground?. Great credit was due to the Secretary (Mr N. D. Bunting) for his untirirg efforts in mE.'cing the Club the success it was. He reminded the incoming Committee that they will have to deal with the debei tires falling due some time during the year. Mr J. B. Moodie stemded the adoption of the report and balance sheet, and also congratulated the it? healt'iy position, and the progress made during tin past jiear. He noticed by the balance sheet that the outf'-mding subletiptions were rather hi,i!i, amounting to £26 15s. The Chairman explained that the increase vas due to the fact that the annual meeting this year was held fully two months earlier than on previous occasions, the alterations bei*?g made in com liance with the amended rules of the Provincial Association. The Secretary stated that since the balance sheet had been printed the outstanding Descriptions had been reduced by a further £5. The Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association wrote stating that their Management Commictee had endorsed the action of the N.Z.L.T.A. in adopting the Sykes' ball for the next New Zealand meeting, the Wellington tournament and all inter-club competitions. The letter was received. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—President, Rev. Dean McKenna- (re-elected); VicePresidents, Messrs A. R. Bunny and W. P.James (x-e-elecied); General Committee, Messrs S. R. Gawith, C. C. Cox, D. Caselberg, J. B. Moodie, G. G. Aitken; Hon. Auditor, Mr G. C. Summerell; Hon. Secretary, Mr A. R. Sclanders; Hon. Treasurer, Mr N. D. Bunting.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Miss Woltte for her services during the past year as Lady Secretary, ar.d she was unanimously reelected to the position. On the motion of Mr Moodie, seconded by Mr Gawith, a vote of thanks was accorded to the donui'3 of prizes. Mr H. M. Boddington made reference to the necessity of securing new tennis nets, and the matter was referred to the Committee.
