A CHARGE DISMISSED.

BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL, August 3. Mr Cruickshank, S.M., dismissed a charge of permitting drunkenness brought against John Affleck, licensee of the Wallacetown Hotel. The landlord of the premises had called regarding repairs,- and had five drinks, collapsing suddenly after the last. The magistrate held tnat there must be knowledge, or connivance, or carelessness on the part of the seller. The customer became drunk, but was not allowed to remain, therefore the licensee did not permit drunkenneps. Powell, the landlord, was an old hotelkeeper, and known to be a man who could carrj liquor well. I
