NAVAL REVIEW AND HISTORICAL r AGE ANT. DINNER TO lIEPRE3ENTATIVES OF COLONIES. Received July 27, 10.30 p.m. OTTAWA, July 27. The Quebec Tercentenary naval review and historical pageant whereat the Prince of Wales was present was followed by Earl Grey's dinner to representatives of the colonics. A hundred of the most prominent men in' Canada were invited. Sir Wilfrid Laurier proposed the toast of the other self-governing colonies. In referring to the statesmen of each colony he said he had met on different occasions he eulogised those of the Commonwealth. He next criticised in a friendly way the Australian Federation as based more on the American than Canadian system. He believed that a mistake. Lord Ranfurly evoked great applause by announcing that he was authorised to hand over £I,OQO as New Zealand's contribution to the Battlefields Fund.
