STANDARD OIL TRUST.
RE TRIAL OF A CASE ORDERED.
Received July 27, 9.25 a.m. NEW YORK, July 26. President Roosevelt has ordered the immediate re-trial of the Standard Oil Trust case. The Trust was, in August last, fined .20,000 dollars on each of 1,462 indictments. The Uniteud States Circuit Court of Appeal last week quashed / the conviction recorded against the Trust, the. Appeal Court holding that Judge Landis (who had tried the case) had committed irregularities, and was wrong in basing the amount of the fine on the wealth of the parent company instead of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana.
