TIMARU'S UNEMPLOYED.
BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. TIMARU. July 20. At a largi ly-attfnded meeting <f unemployed held on the wharf this morning the following resolution w; s carried unanimously ': 'That this meeting protests against the rid ion of the Government in alluring immigrants to New Zealand under false pretences, and in expending public monev to welcome the American fleet." It was said hy the speaker who addressed the meeting that the Government would do better to spend the money it has on useful work to benefit the Dominion, and give work to the unemployed. After the meeting, two hundred men marched through the town to the Mayor's office, and asked him to foiward the above resolution to the Premier. The Mayor (Mr Craigie) promised to do eo; The deputation thanked him and retired. In forwarding the resolution, the Mayor Edded that the deputation consisted of two hundred respectable men, genuinely seeking work.
