THE WESTLAND SEAT. BY TELEGRAPH —PHEBB ASSOCIATION. HOKITIKA, July 20. Mr H. L. Michel, Mayor of Hokitika, and chairman of various local bodies, who contested the Westland seat at the by-election two years ago, will again be a candidate for the seat in opposition to the sitting member, Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, at next general e'ection. Mr Michel left by steamer yesterday for the far south of' Westland, where he wiU speak to the settlers on the political questions of the day. On his return he will deliver aperies of political addresses in all the chief centres of the electorate: As the steamer cast off her moorings yesterday, a demonstration was made, hearty cheers being given in favour of Mr Michel. HAWKE'S BAY SEAT. jVAIPAVVA, July 20. A deputation of about two hundred of the Liberal parly, headed by Mr John Barker, who formerly contested the seat, waited on Mr A. E. Jull, president of the Counties' Association, and asked him to contest the Hawke's Bay seat. -They pledged themselves to support him, and Mr Jull consented to stand.

OHINEMURI. WAIHI, July 20. Mr J. Foster, who contested the Bay of Plenty seat with Mr Herries last election, is a candidate for Ohinernun.\ Other candidates are Messrs Poland and Way (Socialist).
