AN UNVERIFIED RUMOUR.
THE SCOTT-BERE3FORD INCIDENT. Received July 15, 8.14 a.m. LONDON, July 14. In the House of Commons the Right Hon. R. M'Kenna, First Lord of the Admiralty, in reply to Lieutenant , Bellairs, R N., M.P. for King's' Lynn, said the Admiralty considered the incident relating to Admiral Sir Percy M. Scott's signal to the captain of the Roxburgh in November,' 1907, was closed. Mr M'Kenna, in reply to Mr Lee (Conservative), said it would be the work of the Government to compose any alleged existing differences in the Navy. These, he added, appeared to have been more emphasised hy the press than was in ti.e least called for, and so far as the Admiralty was concerned, were based on unverified rumour. Mr M'Kenna added that circumstances had already yielded,-to a more satisfactory state of things. This statement was received with cheers.
