"AN ACT OF TREASON."
ALL ABOUT A PEERAGE. Received July 15, 8.50 a.m. LONDON, July 14. The South Westmeath Executive of the Irish League contemptuously referred back the National Directory's Standing Committee's order disbanding the Rockfortbridge branch for adopting a resolution recommending Mr John E. Redmond, chairman of the Irish Nationalist Party, to Mr Asquith, Prime Minister, for a peerage, in consideration of his aid in the success of the Liberal cause.
The directory based i':s action on the ground that the resolution was an act of treason, offensive to the chairman, and contrary to the constitution of the organisation.
