ANOTHER UNSUCCESSFUL

ATTEMPT,

Received July 8, 9.3 a.m. \ LONDON, July 7. John Wolffe, after being in the •water 14 hours, and swimming 35 was compelled, owing to the tide, to abandon his attempt to swim the English Channel. He was within ithree miles of the French shore when j'he gave up.

Wolffe, who has made several attempts to swim the channel, on one •'occasion (in 1906) got witbia three--quarters of a mile of the French ■coast.
