COMMONWEALTH AND STATES. STATES WILL INSIST ON THEIR RIGHTS. Received June 17, 10.43 a.m. SYDNEY, June 17. The New South Wales Premier (Hon. C G. Wade), in a speech referring to the Federal Government's interference with the State revenues, declared that unless the States insist on their rights under the constitution, it was only a question of time when it would be turned upside down.

DEATH OF ANOTHER VICTIM
Received June 17, 10.43 a.m. SYDNEY. June 17. Eoppi, one of the victims of the powder explosion, is dead. A SHOCKING CRIME. Received June 17, 10.43 a.m. LAUNCESTON, June 16. A boy eight years old, beat his brother, aged three and a-half years, about the head till he died, and then hid the body in a hole by the roadside.

It is stated on good authority that Mr Alexander Macintosh, president of the Government Savings Bank, has been appointed superintendent of the New Zeahini business of Dalgcty and Co., Ltd. Received June 18, 1.5 a.m. SYDNEY, June 17. The Premier states that he has received intimation from Mr Macintosh of his intention ta resign from the Savings Bank. THE PAINTERS' DISPUTE. Received June 18, 12.5 a.m. SYDNEY, June 17. The Arbitration Court has decided that it cannot deal with the painters' trouble because the men went on strike.
